Nursing Assistant Certification Renewal is easier and quicker than ever.

Certified Nursing Assistants can now renew online. Please note that approval from your supervising RN (Registered Nurse) is NO LONGER required.

Effective January 2, 2007, the two year renewal fee for all CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) is $40.00

Note to Nursing Assistant Certification Renewal Applicants:
Effective July 1, 2010, Nursing Assistant Certification renewals will NO LONGER require approval from your Supervising RN. Please register your renewal information on this WEB site, and we will guide you through every step to complete your renewal application. It is important to note that if your institution will be sponsoring/paying your renewal fee, you should notify your supervising RN after you register your renewal information on this WEB site.

Nursing Assistants expiring in June 2023, July 2023, July 2024 and August 2024 must complete a background check in order to renew. Please enter the tracking identification number onto the online renewal application. It is important to use the information provided to ensure the speedy processing of your renewal. Please submit CHRC receipts either by email (mbon.cna@maryland.gov), or mail to 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21215, to the attention of Renewal Department.

Note to the Sponsor (previously called Approval) Institution:
Effective July 1, 2010, the Maryland Board of Nursing NO LONGER requires that the Supervising RN review and approve the Nursing Assistant Certification for renewal. If you are sponsoring (paying) for an applicant, you may use this WEB site to pay the Nursing Assistant Certification renewal fee for the applicant. It is important to note that you will not be able to locate the applicant's information and pay for his/her renewal fee if you log in to this WEB site before the applicant registers his/her information. Please coordinate the timing with all of your sponsored applicants.

NOTE: This WEB site was tested and certified with Internet Explorer version 10 and above, or Firefox version 38 and above.

However, if your Certified Nursing Assistant renewal will be paid by your sponsor institution, please contact your supervising RN after registering your renewal information online to ensure that your sponsor institution pays your renewal fee. Otherwise, your renewal is not complete.
