The Cuban Missile Crisis begins and ends, Johnny Carson takes over as host of The Tonight Show, Marilyn Monroe dies of a drug over dose, Lt. Col John Glenn is the first American to orbit earth, and 1st Tour & Travel opens its doors.
Several years later 1st Tour & Travel is spun off and sold by the 1st National Bank of Grand Island. 1st Tour & Travel is renamed First Holiday Tour & Travel. In 1980 Richard L. Brown decides to leave the dairy business and, purchased First Holiday Tour & Travel.
The tradition begins.
Many years and a change of ownership later, the business name and operations have changed again, allowing Holiday Express Bus to come to fruition. Starting their journey with 1 motor coach running private charters, Holiday Express Bus has grown to house a fleet of 60+ vehicles that run school routes and activities, private group charters, wedding parties and shuttles, and much, much more.
One thing that remains the same is that a Brown still mans the helm. The company is family run with 2nd and 3rd generation Browns. J. Mick Brown and Lori Brown are the current owners with their children Brock, McKenzie and Brook running day to day operations.
